Review - Star Trek Picard Countdown (Issue 1)

This is the prequel comic to the series now showing on CBS All Access (for which we have seen four episodes so far). This happens a number of years before the show, when Picard was still in Star Fleet as an admiral on the USS Verity, in the middle of saving the Romulan people from the supernova that still has not occurred. It turns out that Geordi is in charge of building the ships that are going to take the Romulan people off of their doomed planet. Picard is going to see the first set of ships ready to start the Romulan evacuation when he is diverted to a colony world which holds not only Romulans, but an indigenous population that Picard feels he must also save, even if it means delaying taking the Romulans in the colony off-world. Of course, the Romulans are not in favor of that, and as the issue ends, they have taken the captain and his first officer Raffi (who is also on the show), prisoner.

Good comic, paced very well, and gives some good backstory to the series. Rated 5 out of 5. Cover below.
